Alice's thoughts are interrupted by the Red Knight who threatens to take her prisoner, until the White Knight appears. They fight for her honor, and the White Knight prevails. Although melancholy, and prone to falling off his horse, the White Knight sweetly escorts her out of the forest and helps her progress to the the eighth square of the chessboard, further into the game and another step closer to queenhood.
