Alice meets Humpty Dumpty, an egotistical egg in clear danger of falling off the wall he is seated upon. They discuss names, physical appearance, and ultimately, the conversation comes back to poetry, where Humpty helps Alice translate part of the Jabberwocky poem. After reciting another nonsense poem, Humpty rudely dismisses Alice and sends her on her way.
