Mount Rushmore

Informational (nonfiction) 840L

Mount Rushmore teaches readers about the making of a memorial to honor four of America's presidents. The faces of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt were carved into a mountain of granite, located on Lakota land, over the course of twelve years. Completed in 1941, the memorial receives 2.5 million visitors each year and is maintained yearly. Photos, captions, a map, and a timeline support the text.
